May get a Culti but don't know which direction to go with the handle selection since I've never even held one.
I'm trying to decides between a micarta handle with mosaic pins, which I believe has no palm swells or go with a regular Culti with hollow pins.

I only have, and have only ever held one... a "Working Man's Culti" I believe they were called.

It has smooth Black Canvas Micarta handles with tube fasteners, and I love it. I do wish it were Choil-less though.

The tiger hide and snakeskin have contouring on the handles.
Culties with the mosaic pins are more rare....

.

Moasic pins are not as durable of a handle fastener, so if you plan on using it, go with the hollow rivets..

I think that the mosaic pin handled cults are by far the most comfortable of them all. Regardless, of handle material.

THey are also the easiest to keep clean. I have used both and the tube flares end up with fat, blood, etc in them. THe rear one also ends up with your pinky sticking into it which is not as comfortable as a full contour that you get with the mosaic pins. THe pins are more than tough enough and are fully warantied by Busse so unless your batoning a lot of stuff you have no business batoning with a .125" thin slicer then you have nothing to worry about. I would say that I have a FBM LE with bent tube fasteners and the only thing it does is make the handles not match up 100% but is still fully functional.

THe rarest of all materials are the Mammouth tooth. THere was only three. Next would be giraffe bone. As you can see from below I only have one in the pic. THats cause I was sneaky. I never took pics of my giraffe bones cause they were my favorites

THe custom wood handles are some of the best Busse' you can own IMHO where the handle material is of little consequence due too its size, and the fact that its fully warrantied anyway.

THe best material to me is giraffe bone for toughness and traditional appearance. Its one of, if not, the toughest bones available.

I'm not normally into the natural handle materials, but those green Giraffe bone ones - especially like your bottom-left one are sweet.

Are all of those still for sale?

Micarta w/mosaic? Interesting, don't think I have seen one of those.

I wonder how much contouring and swells matter on a slim knife like this?

Heavens no. Although it took awhile to determine the ones I wanted for myself I have traded or sold them off over the last three plus years.

I only have three in that pic still around. THe one full mammouth which is my wifes w/ ROwe croc sheath, the 5th one down in the top right natural wood and the top one of the red zebrawood that is on the right.

IMO, It all depends on the individual in this case. The cults handles vary more than any other Busse' made due to all the natural materials. I have seen the snake micarta have beautiful swells and contours and then the black and tans are all straight.

The natural materials had thin ones and fat ones. THey both have there advantages/disadvantages but I think it overall has to do with what feels better in YOUR hand.

GUy, the black w/ mosaic pins I think was in the ganza after blade around the same time the Peter cotton tail, Working mans cult, and snakes were released. Its a very nice cult. Its light and you dont have the holes to clean.

Behold.... the rare one!

 oooooh.... ahhhhhhh lol

I'll also have to add.... You'd have to TRY to hurt this handle... the mosaic pins are plenty tough for a knife like this. Hell... I have Mosaid Pins on an FBM!! (yes, bigger than these, but still Mosaic Pins).

I don't think Jerry is gonna approve a flimsy knife to leave the compound with his approval. :-)

I really like the Culti's.

Wish I had snagged this Culti when I had the chance :o

The one I did snag eased the pain though - Thanks Again T.!

On this model, go with the pins!!! And the micarta is a huge bonus also IMO.

I had several culties, and only kept my black micarta with mosaic pins. I don't like naturals on a Busse, but the micarta cultie with pins is the one to get IMO.

On the cultie handle your pinky will fall right into the back tube fastener(or mine did), and it does not feel good at all. The one's with swells didn't feel to good either.

The micarta with pins is just the right slab thickness, and rounded off very well. The best hand fitted slabs I've seen on a Busse.

BTW- the 3 huge pins are overkill on a small knife, so don't worry one bit about the tube fasteners being stronger. This size knife would be fine with two smaller pins, but the three red mosaics look really great IMO.

I have the Tiger Hide w/hollow rivets and I'm very happy with it.

But... it seems like whenever I buy something spendy, there is a chance to upgrade for a little more money and I don't do it. Later on, I usually regret it. (Should have bought the Win. Model 70 in Super Grade not standard, should have bought the Beretta 686 in Grade III, etc., etc.,)

The Cultellus is a really handy knife that you'll probably carry a lot. Why not have one that is extra special? If you have the money, get the fanciest one you can find. :)

Stay sharp,
