Pretty dadgummed exciting what with Uncle offering 1/3 off on anything in stock. I was just wondering what kind of blades folks gravitated towards in jumping on this opportunity. Me, I ordered a 12" Sirupati (out of stock, dang it), not for myself, but to be mounted in a shadow box as a going away gift for one of my guys. What handforged treasures did y'all add to your knife hoard?

Nada I did check on the availabilty of a plain wood handle Khumar Karda. Not in stock. I really didn't need one, but curious about the availability. Have two horn carved, and one wood carved handle. I felt the plain wood handle would be easier to modify and woodchuck.

I was gonna order 14" Bura New Model. However, I was lacking in funding, so I hummed and hahed for most of the day. Then the day ended and I was safe.

I figure those 12" AK villagers should be here soon.

I went for a carved Kumar Karda but there were none, had to settle on a plain horn KK. The idea is to have a fixed blade knife that I can wear without frightening the sheeple, a role that my K-bar cannot fill.

Well, I tried for a Hanshee, a Pen knife, a Hanuman, and an Yvsa Cherokee Special:eek: . I struck out completely, but Hog got home and landed a carved wood handle AK and a Patang. :D

Actually I did get something on my list....2 Kagas Katna's I need for gifts for my nieces. I sent all the nephews 15" AK's and thought the girls would enjoy a little something, too.

Good on ya!:) Too many well intentioned (but IMHO stupid) people feel that women should display no interest in cutlery beyond that which is found in the kitchen. That's a load of dung. I spent two hours of my medieval event this weekend teaching a class on how to carve wooden spoons, starting with how to pick out the right species/shape tree, and how to harvest wood responsibly. The majority of my students were women, and they had a great deal of interest in my Swedish woodcarving knives. Them gals whittled up a storm, had a blast doing it, and because they paid attention better'n guys usually do, nobody so much as nicked their thumb.:D

side note: I used to use a small hand axe to rough out spoon blanks. Found to my small surprise, but great pleasure, that a 12" AK works beautifully for that sort of thing. Take that Quackipuss:p

18 inch Ang khola :)
That's my second.
Next one will be one of the sirupatis, except I donno which one.

I was interested in 4; 3 were available: Garud Ang Khola, Kagas Katne, and because I originally started my collecting habit with bowies, an Ang Khola Bowie. Counting the hours until delivery!:D

I went for a 21" Gelbu special and a katana with decorated scabbard. If I'd had more money I'd have gone with a Cherokee Rose, a Malla, and a Patang as well, but I don't wanna overload my senses! :)

I wanted to order a JKM-1 for a friend. Wasn't able to get one, so I'm giving mine and getting a Kumar Karda for me. :)

Sarge,
I have a set of the swedish carving knives too. They are really hard to beat, excellent steel and priced cheap enough. I bought one today on sale for $9.00. It has the 2 5/16" carving blade.
God Bless.
