Where and how does everybody display or keep their knife collection(s). Mines growing and I would like some ideas.

I don't like leaving my knives out in the open, even though I do. When we have company at the house, I usually make sure everything is put away. Some suggestions for knife storage would be a Pelican case, steel tool box, a blueprint/architect drawer, knife storage bags, etc.

I use a couple large Spyderpacs and some Kershaw Knife bags. Benchmade makes a nice Attache style bag too (aside from the Spyderco and Kershaw versions).

I consider myself a user rather than a collector - I just like knives and always have my eye on the next one (or two or three)! I'm embarrassed to say, my knives are all over the place. I've got 3 old Sheffield slipjoints in front of me, a Frosts Lapplander on the chair next to me, a Buck Titanium on the coffee table. There's a Brusletto Fisksprett, two Frosts Lapplanders, and Vic Mauser Officers Knife on the kitchen table. There are Moras in bathroom and can, a whole load of knives in a bag in what I call my Leon Trotsky Room (the walls are lined with ice-axes), there's an old Pat Mitchell (Sheffield) FB on the side of a cabinet in there, and a Brusletto Gubben. Got my Jack Black Knives U1 in a fire safe. There's more knives in my camping cupboard. I've got a Tramontina in the hall. There's a pile of gear in my main bedroom with a CS Roach Belly, CS Finn Bear, Boker Subcom, Vic Hunter, Byrd Crow, and a couple of Kuhn Rihon picnic knives. There's a Martinni in my sock-drawer, a damascus E-bay special on my bookshelf. In the drawer of my dresser there's a couple of CS Ultralocks, a Schrade-Wostenholm trad lock-back, and there'll be some other folders in there. On top of the dresser there's a Wenger World Scout Knife and a couple of Leathermans. In the cupboard there's a Boker Magnum Camp Bowie someone gave me. In another drawer there's a CRKT A.G.Russell Sting and maybe a few others. Next to my bed there's a SOG Government, Gerber Predator, CS LTC Khukri, a Boker Plus Tom Krein Pocket Bowie, and a TOPS Hawk Recon. In my pocket I've got a Vic Classic and a Spyderco Co-Pilot. There's an Eka 88 in my coat pocket. Probably missed a few, but I know where most of them are just off the top of my head at least! :D

Just realised I must sound like 'Critical Bill'!! I'm not, I'm just untidy! :D

I've got an entire room dedicated to edged tools; it's my mini "man cave" lol!

Inside the room, some of my knives go into old silverware cases:

Some go in drawers:

Some on the wall:

and there's a few scattered around the house and garage as well... :D

Fantastic! :) You are the man I want to be Sir. Years ago I did have a set of knife drawers, and then a filing cabinet, but that was a long time ago. I need to get organazized! :)

my Leon Trotsky Room (the walls are lined with ice-axes)
That made me chuckle a bit.

For me I keep a majority of my knives in my gunsafe. I don't have any fancy collectable knives, but I would be devastated if what i have were to walk off! N ow I have Peace of mind knowing that most of them are locked away.

I've got multiple knives in two separate 5 drawer bench stand tool boxes. And one stand-up cedar chest with 9 drawers.. Each and every one of the drawers are lined. This serves me well.

Ooh! And now you're all going to show off your excellent storage units! I hate these threads! :grumpy:

Thanks sir! It's not really that organized though, the rest of the room is a disaster with stuff scattered everywhere... :foot:

Besides, it's way more fun to have knives scattered throughout the home anyway!

All of my knives are users - some more than others, obviously. I must say I have a number of them in an office supplies organizer in my dresser drawer - mostly my EDC rotation along with a few cheapies I would loan without reservation.
The rest are in toolboxes, with camping gear, in EDC bags, in gloveboxes, in EDC organizers, in my jacket pockets, and in emergency bags throughout the house, garage, and vehicles.

I like those silverware organizers. They look very useful. But then I'd need to dedicate space to them, and wouldn't have 'my blades when/where I'm likely to need 'em.

I'm super organized when it comes to my knives and firearms. Inside pelican cases with desiccant. Then into a safe would be my ideal setup for "future users" :)

My EDC rotation stays unlocked in a zippered attache case.

Czechmate, enjoy those knives! Nice setup.

I use a regular steel 3 drawer toolbox with plastic bins and foam lining.

Checkout thrift stores and garage sales for the silverware cases; they're pretty economical to buy as well as classy looking. :D Or, just empty out your silverware at home and put the cases to good use! ;)

Thanks klute! Most of my knives are users; any that come to me BNIB usually get sold pretty quickly on the exchange if I decide they're not for me...

I keep blades everywhere I can including carrying at least two folders with me everyday so I'm never left feeling like I don't have access to some of my favourite blades. I usually have a team gemini and modded cold steel warhammer (I know, cold steel?...) hidden away in the master bedroom, benchmade nimravus, kershaw s110V shallot and s60V boa in the garage (all are heavy users) for example...

There's also one or two in the livingroom (varies day to day what ends up there! :) I think there's a hossum retribution 1currently hiding somewhere...

I'm starting to get rid of some knives as I've not using enough of my collection as frequently as I'd like to...

The problem with displaying your collection is that it makes a nice, easy to find present for any burglar that might break in. Sort of like a woman hanging all of her expensive jewelry on the wall.

If you're going to display hundreds, or thousands of dollars worth of knives, I would suggest that you have theft insurance, keep a list of all your knives, keep your reciepts, and take photos of all your knives, including photos of how and where they were being displayed. Of course, if you have knives that could not be replaced or that you could not bear to lose, you might want to reconsider openly displaying them.

All my knives are users, some are more expensive than others. Although I live in an area with an extremely low crime rate, I hide the knives that I'm not going to be using/carrying that day. Why make it easy for a potential burglar to take all my good stuff.

I'm totally with you 100% killgar, that's why all of mine are stored locked away in my "bunker"... Besides, if any burglar did find their way into the room, they'd probably impale themselves on one of the random, larger sharp objects not in the pictures laying around. :D

And then probably sue me, and win... :foot:
