Does anyone know how strong the framelock on the sebenza is? I.e. (And I really hate to use this company as an example, but they do produce good video material) Cold steel sometimes has a test where they engage a knife and hold it by the blade in a vice grip and hang x amount of weight from the handle to show the strength of their lock, usually coming up with something in the mid 100's.

What would the weight be that the Sebenza would suffer a critical failure and snap shut?

Oh i have a sebbie, in fact my second one's on the way. However, I have neither the setup nor the want to test the wherewithal of my knives to the point of critical failure. Was curious if anyone had done such testing before. If not, c'est la vie.

This is 3rd hand, but I remember years ago there was talk that Chris Reeve had Sal Glesser test a Sebbie on the Spyderco lock testing machine. IIRC, the story said it broke at 400 pounds. It was an open secret. But I have no way of verifying it. (At about the same time I read this, Spyderco started making the Chinook and then the Manix, which broke at 800 pounds.)

Anyone else remember this apocryphal account?

two thick slabs of titanium, how much stronger can a folder get (without compromising usability and cutting power)

You have to have a measure of distance in there, since this is a moment about the pivot. The couple will be the force applied x the distance from the pivot it is applied.

The ultimate strength of the pivot screw assembly in double shear is probably a pretty indicator of the strength of the overall assembly (including the lock). Part of the reason I think they should counterbore the slabs and let the pivot bushing into them.
