That's what my local hardware store owner told me today. He said they bought the manufacturing facility. Anyone know if this is true?

Taylor bought the copyrights, patents, and designs. I don't think they bought any actual knives or equipment; Taylor's plan is to import 'Schrade' knives from China.

Existing knives from the Schrade warehouse were sold to Smoky Mountain Knife Works and sold at huge discounts. They're mostly gone now.

United Cutlery bought unfinished knives and knife parts. There are rumors of Rigid Old Timers made from the parts being sold at knife shows at the United booth.

I don't know offhand who bought the production facitilities, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't Buck. The new Buck factory is in Idaho; the Schrade factories were in New York and Ireland.

You can probably find out more by browsing the older topics in the Schrade forum at this website.

Here's some info on the actual Schrade factory:

The building which housed Schrade and was a major asset for the bank to recoup its money remains unused, unbought, and empty, and is simply costing the bank money for security and upkeep, the employees who worked there for the most part remain unemployed and on unemplyment.
