I had just finished up a sheath for a really nice little knife and sat down with my very latest Blade Magazine (November 2009) which came in the mail today. Not really reading intently...just sort of thumbing through the pages. There on page 68 under the title "Gentleman's Bowie forged From 1084 Carbon Steel" was a picture of the knife I had just finished that sheath for. It is in my shop as I type this and will be delivered to John at the ABS Show in San Antonio day after tomorrow.

A couple of issues issues back in the same section of the magazine ("What's New") was a picture of my Dave Kelly fighter that Dave delivered to me months ago and which I posted pictures of on this forum.

Of course, none of this is important, or interesting except maybe for me, but it's kind of fun to open up a magazine that goes around the world and see a picture and think to yourself "I know where that knife is this very minute".

That's all. Thanks for taking a minute with me, and if you've got a similar knife story, please share it.

I love coincidences. It's really neat when patterns emerge.

Well.. the other day I was able to impress a pretty girl by picking up 500 knives and being like "LOOK! I own that!!"

I called myself a nerd for my knife hobby but she told me the knives turned her on. It ended up being a very nice night.

Does that count?

Also its fun to look through a publication and note which knives I have handled or seen in person, and who that I know currently owns them. Makes the world seem so small.

Yep, I know what you mean. I remember a comment you made about liking that you knew where that Erickson Pietersite Damascus dagger ended up, since you handled it at the Santa Barbara show. Same kinda thing. And, of course, I sorta feel a bit this way, if you noticed the comment below, right above the CKCA emblem, another of those Ericksons, LOL.

I know what you mean Paul.
The Josh Smith Gents Bowie (in my avatar) that I got a couple months ago is on pg 34. of the current issue.

One of those nice little unexpected pleasures.

Bob, yeah thats actually funny cause I almost forgot about that! Perfect example!

Its also fun to see a knife in a publication and be like "i know where that is for sale!".

Ah, Paul, the little incidents that make life so
unexpectedly exciting.....

All the best,

Cool stuff no doubt.

I can imagine that you see MANY knives depicted in various types of media around the world, arrive at your shop for one of your exquisite sheaths Paul.

I had one of those experiences a few years back when I saw a knife that I own pictured in the Knives annual.

It's always great to see a knife from your collection in a book or magazine. I just got the new Blade in the mail today and was all grins when I saw the sub hilt Kyle made for me featured so prominently. A great, fun aspect of collecting.

The coolest and wierdest coincidence for me was when I acquired Explosive Fighter (below) from Kyle Royer. It was #46 for Kyle and it was the 46th knife in my collection.
