Curious to see how Spydercos Elmax performs

Compared to (elmax) offerings from other makers. Spyderco seems to do a good job with their HT and has a knack for getting the most out of certain steels (s30v comes to mind). Curious if anyone has had the new elmax pm2 long enough to do any testing. I would also be very interested to hear how it holds compares to spydercos s30v!

I'm curious too, I got a pm2 in elmax and havnt been brave enough to turn it into a user yet. And have searched you tube for videos for someone with a review but havnt found any yet. I emailed spyderco and asked what the hardness was of the elmax blades but the wrote back saying that they don't release that information.... I have no doubt spyderco wouldn't make something they couldn't get right so I'm sure it's great but would like to know if it's on the lower side of the rc scale which would make it very tough or high for the edge retention,

I like Elmax a lot more than I thought I would. I've used my Elmax PM2 quite a bit around the house and property. I don't cut rope, but typical things like cardboard, packaging, junk mail, sharpening pencil points, whittling up rogue trees in my fence line, etc have been accomplished easily with it. The edge has held a fine edge better than expected. I inspect it daily for micro chips or slight rolls, nothing yet.

The Elmax in my ZT 0561,(lol sorry Sal) is great and less likely to chip as far as I can tell although it does require a little extra effort to sharpen.I'd bet Sal does a boat load of testing before deciding to use any new blade steels in his knives.;)

This has been my experience as well. I have seen so may hyped up blade steel releases through the years that I generally do not pay them much heed. ELMAX has performed very well for me and has impressed with the balance of edge retention and ease of sharpening. It is very durable.

I like Elmax a lot more than I thought I would.
