I'll start off. I have a few I carry depending upon where I will be.
(That can range from an office to nearby woods on a daily basis.)
Sometimes I think about the knives I carry and shake my head.
Carson lock back. Kit made this pup for me a couple of years back. How can you not carry a knife a friend made for you. It has not been out of arms reach many times since I had it. (ok I don't take it in the shower with me and I still like to swim any chance I get).
Carson F4 in damascus. This is just a great small fixed blade that rides in my briefcase/laptop bag to work with me.
Richard Rogers small coke bottle (ironwood). Richard and Sally are pretty special folks to me. I have been luck to add a few knives of his to my collection over the years and it seemed a shame not to actually use one of them.
Tony Huffman bone whittler (like an Case 83 pattern). Tony really makes a nice knife. This one is a split back 3 blade w/Wharncliff master coping and pen. Lots of blade in a very small package.
Scott Cook Lochsa. Had dinner with Scott years ago at a Shot Show in Atlanta. Man that was a lot of fun. Kit, Daryl, the Reeves, Spark, Scott a few BF members and other makers. The Lochsa is a heck of a nice folder and Scott is even a nicer person. Spends its time in my briefcase during the week and in jeans on the weekend with the Carson folder.
Bailey Bradshaw knarly stag gunstock. Got this from Randy. This knife has big time good "mojo" for a bunch of reasons.
It also sees some hard use as far a a slipjoint goes. That forged 3v is tough stuff that can take a good bit of abuse.
Joel Chamblin whittler. Got a few of Joel's knives. Like Richard he is special to me and it does not seem right have them all pristine.
P.J. Tomes single blade lockback. Just another nice little knife that Thomason put up for sale.
Don Cowles fixed blade in stag and 30v. Don is a great guy. I really enjoy his company even though we only see each other about once a year.
Art Washborn very small all damascus liner. Got this knife from "Mo". (Another one of those "mojo" knives.
Some of you guys remember Chang. I have a knife of his that he really did a good job on. It has seen some pretty tough use over the years and it has held up well. Eric did a great job on the heat treat of this knife too. Last time I used it was to trim ivy down from chained link fencing. Was out there for 4 hours before I felt it was time to get a better edge on the knife. (dog people need big back yards.
)
Somewhat retired but still carried now and then:
Simonich/Ralph 2bk (2 bastid knife). Miss ya Rob.
Ralph DA Apogee. Another guy who has become a friend. My dad liked this knife so much I asked Daryl if he would make a small DA for him. What a great father's day gift that year!
Simonich Pikkuni.
Then there are some choice factory knives.
I know it is a little "mushy" (what did you expect from me
), but do others enjoy carrying knives by folks they have gotten to know a little more than maker/customer?
I know I appreciate the knives a little more than usual and enjoy using them a little more than usual It has to do with the person who made it as much as the knife itself, but I think I had better stop if I once I get past toting a Brend or a Bose.
