Here is a bowie I just finished. The blade is 10 1/2 inches of 5160, fittings are 416 stainless and the handle is curly maple stained with Maple Magic. The maple is finished with Birchwood Casey Tru-Oil. Thanks for looking.

Well, that's another nice one Brett. I like the somewhat more steeply-angled clip. I can tell you guys that Brett's handle design is VERY comfortable as well as attractive.

Here is another one of his bowies that I was far from alone in admiring. ;)

i like the clean lines of your knives! this one is no exception! a question: is there a specific reason why you mainly use 5160? advantages/disadvantages of 5160 in your opinion?

thank you!

that's strange and i am bit confused: i just found out that a dealer described two of your hunters as made of 1084 steel. the same knives are shown on your web site and it says that they are made of 5160.

I'd love to handle that Beautiful Bowie..Super Clean and some incredible grinding and contouring goin on...congratulations on a fine piece!

Another beauty Brett! I'm really impressed with the work you've been turning out lately.

I'm really enjoying your work Brett. Once again you've done a great job. Nice and clean. :)

the classic bowie, will look as good in 100 years as it does today, fantastic work.

Brett,

Really nice work. I know the word gets used a lot, bit your knives are ...clean. Crisp lines and nice satin finishes are easy to look at, but not easy to achieve. You have both.

that is another nice Bowie... I still need to take a photo of the trailing point Bowie you made for me, the handle is very comfortable and the balance is excellent. I've taken it on a hike through bear country, didn't have to use it though :D

Thank you for the comments.

brightred, I started forging knives of 5160 and 1084. 1084 has become scarce so I simply stuck with the 5160. It works well for me. As far as the confusion on the dealers website, I would say that my website is accurate.

Thanks again everyone,

Brett

Beautiful Bowie, I need to add a Bowie to my collection, one of these days.
