Anyone out there using AEBL or 14C28N?
All my usual sources are out of the size and thickness I use (.156 6"x36"). I'm doing larger quantities so looking for much more than a 2"x36" bar. Tariffs seem to have thrown off the import market and domestic suppliers are likely waiting for things to change before importing more. Just checking if someone has sources I don't know about. Admiral, Alpha, NJSB are all out. Direct inquiries to Voestalpine (importer) yielding nothing.
thanks!

I've been getting AEB-L at alpha knife supply for a while. also bought some from usa knife maker.
Haven't checked really recently though, I hope they're not out!

NJSB was stocking buderus steels (which means it technically wasn’t aeb-l since that’s an uddeholm name but that’s a whole diff can of worms to open). And buderus just went out of business a few months ago to my knowledge.

Admiral currently has 14c28n 0.158” in 96” sheets which get cut in half for shipping. 0.002 diff could just be surface ground off or left bc that’s a pretty small amount that not many would even notice

Usa knife maker usually stocks 14c28n as well but idk what sizes they have in stock, usually it’s only 2-4in wide though

Alpha stocks actual uddeholm aeb-l and yeah the sizes they get in seem to be in cycles and less frequent nowadays. Uddeholm is owned by voestalpine

I have an email in my inbox from Admiral as of 2 hrs ago that they are out of stock on 14c28n. I have bought this from them before and like it. So if you know something I don't about their supply I'd love to hear it!

i mean i just checked the site which shows they have it idk how live that stock list is though.

It lets me add to cart and go to checkout with it so i assume its in stock

admiral also has 12c27 which can be an alternative, very similar in composition to aeb-l, differences are slightly less carbon and slightly more chromium

yeah their online store supply is not really up to date. last time I bought they didn't have the length listed online, and when I tried to repurchase they said sold out... I'll have to ask on 12c27 I think they were actually out of stock on that last time I tried as well...

They are (were) awful... I'm hoping things get better
I tried ordering my last batch with them.
Every couple days, they'd change my order (size and shipping cost) After they said it.
Couple of times....I eventually cancelled. It got too frustrating. I just wanted to buy the steel they said they had.

I completely agree. Its ridiculous. I did actually get one shipment from them and it was good steel at a good price. But I had to go through a couple different sales people on the phone before I got the proper quote for the proper material. Obviously their bread & butter is large industrial orders and not small knife makers.

usa knife maker has 14c28n in the thickness you want just only in 2in width, im assuming you want 6in as a form of bulk ordering but if you can live with multiple 2” bars thats prob your best bet for the thickness you want atm

thanks, unfortunately its more than double the price I'd pay in a larger sheet
