Just a note of interest you may want to look into.
I have been a member of USAA for many years now. They have recently opened enrolement for their banking, and insurance services. It was initially exclusive to only military officers, and finally it would seem that ALL active duty, widowers and their children, ex US military, and ROTC cadets can now join this group.
This is not a plug, I have no conflict of interest here. I am only happy with their services, and I honestly feel that if qualified people don't know about them, they might appreciate this post. Oh by the way, they are consistently one of the top rated banks in the country. Thats pretty cool to have an exclusive place for our people that is worth something to you and your families.
