I have always liked the Canoe pattern, but never got around to buying one. Well, now I can, so who currently makes the pattern with these features. A single back spring, slim and nicely rounded on the sides, like the old Case XX knives from 30 years ago or more, jigged bone panels and relatively thin blades, especially the pen blade. The ones I’ve looked at don’t seem to have all of these in one knife, but I am sure I have missed some. Thanks.

Queen Cozy Glen makes a nice one.A real stout knife.

You need to clarify if you are looking for a full sized canoe (around 3 1/2") or a smaller knife like a mini canoe, aka a "butterbean".

Butterbeans are harder and harder to find.

Canoes are still going strong and made by a bunch of good manufacturers, some quite affordable.

I would find a couple of dealers on this site that specialize in traditionals and call them personally to get their feedback. (Not gonna say it, Elliot..... :D )

The full size, not a butter bean.

Is the Cozy Glen still available? I thought it was only a limited run.

I have a Bulldog single spring canoe that fits your specifications, but isn't available new. But take a look at the Boker and Hen & Rooster brands, they might be single spring; I can't really say since I don't currently own either one. I haven't seen Queen's canoe pattern face to face, so can't comment about them either. - Ed

I have had a few come and go. It's a pattern I like though, and the one I have at present is this Northwoods in D2/Sambar

(Not sure if I took this picture though, or if it's someone else's)

My guess is not, because I don't remember the pin burns

There still around. I don't know about the canoe though. The regular Queen is just as nice imo.

Every Boker or Queen Canoe I've ever seen had a single backspring and the thicker main blade (a more traditional design). Case used to make Canoes that way but theirs currently feature two thinner backsprings and thinner blades. If it matters to you Case makes canoes with blades of both CV and stainless steel. Boker makes canoes with either Carbon or Stainless (I think 440C steel). Queen's come with D2 steel. You can get a variety of handle materials from any of the three companies and from a quality standpoint I don't think you could go wrong with any of them.

Rough Rider makes a canoe also although it is two springs, not one. I know a lot of people dis the brand but if you are like me and want to see if you like the pattern, $10 is an easy test drive. If it turns out you do like it then you can feel more at ease about shelling out for a "name" maker with better quality and more choices in the scales, etc.

I think mine is 3 1/2" closed.

Four Cases and a Hen & Rooster. I like em all. I may even use one someday...

I have a Queen canoe and a CS canittler I EDC
the queen is a classic 2 blade canoe, has 2 springs and a nice thick blade, F&F is wawsome, nice ACSB handles and pretty sharp out of the box
the CS is D2 too and a 3 blade "canittler", very nice and good F&F, sharpens great

I have a case canoe but it has thinner blades and 2 springs, edc'ed it only couple times
it's the ruger red G-10

the queen is widely available and for me it's an awesome example of the pattern and really usable as an edc, light and small but pretty sturdy construction and the "thick" blade is a nice plus
looks almost like this one, long carvings in the bone, awsesome color

The main blade is significantly thicker in D2
I do not know if that is the difference between Carbon and D2, becuase the Cozy glen Mini-Traper is also thinner in carbon

So the Queen in D2 is a much stouter knife
I really like its heft for it size

I have a Queen just like the one above, and it's a very pocketable knife. Single spring, well made, and the D2 blade takes and holds a great edge. They're available for under $50.00.

I really liked my Queen Canoe, until I gifted it to a close friend. Mine was covered in Carved Stag Bone, and I really enjoyed the combo of a thick spear blade and a razor-thin pen. Hmmmm.... Might just have to get another. ;)

I have a Case canoe and love the knife. It is thin and very pocketable and the cv blades take a good edge. Can't complain with this knife.

I lost an old Case from the late 70's but I have regularly carried a Camillus Yello-jaket that came next. I do not know what stainless steel was used but it is single spring. I truly love this pattern for pocket carry. Get one of some brand and you won't regret the purchase.
