Here are some updated pics of my current duty rifles. Socom 16 wearing a Troy MCS stock, and my M4. :)

Personally owned carry? And your chief/sheriff is okay with .308s deployed for patrol?

Wow! Love the SOCOM.

7.62x39 is fine and well, but 7.62x51 rules the roost.

Mike :D

The upper rail is attached to the rifles action. A push pin secures the upper assembly. No loss in zero with this stock, and no extra tools to take it apart.

The Troy MCS helps make the M14 type rifles feel more like the AR / M4 rifles that I'm use to. Even my duty shotgun is set up like an AR. :)

I just finished customizing/refurbishing my old duty Remington 870 shotgun. I got ride of the old Choate pistol grip stock and decided to go all the way. I had to refinish her due to some rust on the reciever. I installed a Mesa Tactical stock, Tasco PDP dot sight, Typhoon H2X weapon light (with strobe light mode) , Lasermax laser, Scattergun Technologies magazine extension, M.I. single point sling attachment with Blackhawk MOUT quick-release single point sling, CAA collapsible stock adapter with CR123 battery holders, back bored chamber, Tactical picatinny fore-end with a Tango Down vertical fore grip, and a complete action job on the internals.

Mesa questions: do you like the straight back for proper sight alignment with the optics and did you just go collapsible or get the Endine?

I really like the high tube Mesa stock adapter. Makes the 870 feel like my other rifles. If you want to use the normal bead sight, Mesa makes a low tube model with and without the Endine buffer.

The way my 870 feels now when I shoot it is so much better. The muzzle doesn't jump up as much and the recoil is more linear. Plus, with the adjustable stock, it makes it easier to get the right length of pull when wearing body armor.

Ray what did you use to refinish the steel parts with? I like that subdued gray finish!  :D

Wow, what a pretty Gelbu Special! :D

Seriously cool guns there. I have an AR but it's setup for targets really, not offense right now. My 870 is 30 years old and rode in a CHP patrol car for a few years, but still looks great. A gunsmith friend of mine bought it from the CHP and then sold it to me. 2 3/4" only. I thought about sending it to Wilson/Scattergun, but it's so pretty I didn't like the idea of them parkerizing and bolting plastic onto it, although I would like the receiver modified to accept 3" shells, which I think is possible.

The one thing I do have to get is a light on it though, and keeping it mostly stock makes that difficult...

Thanks for the eye candy.

Norm

P.S. Did you Gun Kote the slides of your Glocks as well? Cool two-tone look there.

Svashtar,

I did use the Gun-Kote on the slides of my Glocks. The original outer finish (not the Tennifer finish) was a bit worn. I wanted to freshen them up.

The "black" coating of the Glocks is just a type of parkerizing. It has no bearing on the tennifer. Lots of folks strip off the black and do all sorts of differnt colors. Even saw a slide done in red, white and blue. Race gun and pretty to look at as well.

For lack of a better term, that 870 is BADASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am a huge fan of the 870. If I had only one weapon, which I do, it is the 870. Permission to make mine like yours?

Not hard to make your 870 like his, maybe $350 for all parts? I'm sort of the other way, I like a clean 870 and have two of the beauts (yes, one is a bit pimped).

It's my favorite sound and I do miss the ability to rack a shotgun on a felony stop. Old time thugs knew the fight was over when the shotgun got racked. It's a distinctive sound.

white_feather, be my guest!

I updated the looks and feel of my 870 because it made it feel similar to my M4 and SOCOM with the Troy MCS stock.

On the plus side, when I pull it out for a felony stop, or a man with a gun call, the suspects freak out and give up! I had an active shooter drop his Taurus 9mm when I took aim at him with my 870.

Interesting cho on the gelbu. It's very circular, rather than cloven. Nice work on the handle, and the other stuff, too. :D
