Current pivot screws still hardened?

Did EKI stop using hardened pivot screws when they switched from the domed ones with the narrow slot to the countersunk wide slot?

My newer style one is chewed to hell, but my old domed one doesnt have a single mark. And i am very careful adjusting these.

I have no problem either way. Just curious. Anybody know?

Not sure, think they are the same other than the wider slot.

Give them a call and get another one. And use a dime on it.

Thx.

I was simply curious. Just doesnt behave like its hardened. The penny i used on it chewed it up without a scratch on the penny.
Sure dont need to replace it tho. It does what its supposed to.

I just used the pry end of an Atwood tool (CPM-3V at 58 or 59 RC) to adjust the pivot screws on 2 newer models without a mark on the pivots.

They seem hardened to me, at least on my models. The handle screws seem A LOT softer.

The older screws are hardened or a harder grade of steel. The current ones are coated stainless like the other screws on the handle. Had a couple around and took a file to each and the newer cut more easily.
