Hi, guys!

What is the current steel used on the production XM-18s from Blade Show? I had thought that I heard S35V was one of the later steels being used; but it was a while ago that I heard that, and I couldn't find the reference. The blades are not marked, and I didn't want to assume.

Thanks, guys!

I have a Gen4 XM-18 (3.5" Spanto Flipper) unmarked blade is Duratech 20CV

I had heard that the S35VN was in use or going into use as well, the folks I know who have those - I believe the blades are marked as such.

As far as the S35VN goes, I believe it is always marked on the blade. The Duratech 20CV goes naked. And CTS-XHP gets disclosure as well.

Curious to know if the current production xm 18's are still 20cv? And have all xm 24's been s35vn?

It's kind of like life, you rarely want to say all or every is certainly and without refute a specific way. So, I did a quick search and found several pics and Web stuff showing XM24s in CTS XHP. Only the shop knows for certain.
I'd bet most of the unmarked new 18s are 20CV.

well fancy that, all of the 24 pics i've come across were stated as s35vn. thanks for the insight. will be curious to see what this upcoming batch of xm 18's will be.

I have always read Rick or Rob state that unmarked XM's are Duratech20CV given allowance for an occasional slip. I'm rocking a CTS-XHP today. It's pretty good steel from my usage. I'd like an FXM in DT 20CV! :D
