The Solvang Custom Knife Show is just around the corner (April 28, 2012). Participant makers at such invitationals have a limit on the number of pieces they can present. Consequently, Curt Erickson (and Julie) had to decide just which knives would be going to Solvang - and this one WILL NOT be going.

It was just too gorgeous not to show on Blade Forums, so here you go (sorry, it's already spoken for). Hope you enjoy.

A separate thread will appear in the next day or two with a couple of the Solvang knives, but will not include any of Curt's art daggers such as this one, though they will be at the show. Description of this magnificent ring dagger follows the image below:

Modernist Art Ring Dagger: California style ring dagger with a cutting-edge flair about it. Overall length 11 ½" with 7 1/4" double ground Rob Thomas dot matrix stainless Damascus. Hot blued gun metal fittings with carved and sculpted rings, with French grey. Carved pre-ban Elephant Ivory handle. Full metal German silver sheath with hot blued button. Fully engraved, 24ct gold inlay with French grey by Master Engraver Julie Warenski-Erickson.
 
I'm obsessed with ring daggers lately. Been working on a design for a couple of months now, and after seeing this one, it's time to get er dialed!

Indeed out of the ordinary. The damascus blade needs gettjng use to, but after a few returns to the pic I like it.

Seeing these works of art from Curt/Julie always make me appreciate what a potent combo they are.. The overall design of this one really appeals to me, and while bold, I think the dot matrix damascus is an asset... The amount of engraving, carving, etc. tell me that they were "going big" on this dagger and I think that's why such strong pattern was chosen... Beautiful Ring Dagger Bob, thanks for showing it... This amazing knife and sheath as well many many others will be
displayed in an 80+ page section of Julie's forthcoming book (end of 2012),
"The Art Knives and Knife Engraving of Julie Warenski-Erickson"....

Looks incredible. It would be great to see it in more detail.

I'll be looking forward to that book David, as Julie is one of my most favorite artists.

Now that Curt and Julie came up with this magnificent
new Ring Dagger, I shall enjoy changing the layout of
the page in Julie's book with Curt's 2010 amazing Ring Dagger.... :)

I shall have both pieces side by side!
