How often does mr. Curtis open the books for new orders? Right now the books are closed.

If you have a Curtis f3 or other knife, how do you like it?

How long of a wait, after your order was processed?

Thanks

About the books im not sure.
I have a 3,5", i love the looks of it, but im not using mine. Has been laying since i got it. Opened two boxes with it. I have carried it, but almost no use.
Im actually using my Spydercos and other productionknives over it.

I got a Curtiss Nano liner lock about 2 weeks ago. Excellent design and execution and cuts like a son of a gun. The knife developed vertical blade play not long after it was received, but it doesn't bother me enough to bother Dave with it. I've ordered a new F3 and will receive it tomorrow. I'll update after I get a chance to use it.

addendum: I fixed the blade play by tightening the screws that hold the stop pin

Ah hah :D

Update and pictures please.

Played with a few at Blade and was not a fan of the ergonomics

I have the full size F3 and Compact version too. Both very fine knives with nice details in the pivot, backspacer, scale pattern, etc. I tend to compare mine to my Hinderers due to their similar profiles - the Curtiss folders carry better (slimmer and lighter) and flip faster. I enjoy them a lot and think you will as well - the full titanium versions are best, especially with the various patterns and anodization.

Cannot help you with ordering info though - purchased both of mine secondhand since his books were closed and sold out everywhere I looked.

I know he brought a lot to blade. Have you tried to contact him directly. His books might be closed to orders but he might have inventory. He could have some left over from blade.

I have an F3 Midsize and it's a nice knife but doesn't strike me as on another level from a Spyderco Southard. Both have bearing flippers, titanium frame locks, and thick hollow ground premium steel blades.

And you can get 3 Southards for the price of a F3 on the exchange.

Love my 4" but it is a collectors peace for me. I have carried it but not much! If it was plain it would be in the pocket almost everyday! This is why I hardly carry it!

Very nice, looks like you went with the stand offs instead of the back spacer.

It actually has the geared back spacer witch in my mind looks better then just stand offs!

I have both the 3.5" and 2.3" F3 flippers and they're excellent. You can also find them on BladeHQ but they do sell out fast.

Here's a related thread: Curtiss F3 Flipper

I saw a review on YouTube, the gentle man said it takes about 2 weeks to get it directly from Dave (curtis knives)

I'll call them Monday

Thanks

Based on my conversations with David, he is working on getting some additional machinery and other details squared away for the production of his knives and told me the books would open but a little later than he expected... I would say by the August they will have been opened.

Love 'em. I have big hands and I kinda like the ergos. Mine flip really nicely and shake closed after a short break in period, adjustment of the pivot and a bit of oil. N690 and 154 are both done really well and perform nicely, and the G10 weight saving is noticeable over the full titanium.

I posted pics in the JUST PICS OF KNIVES thread no long ago.

I have an F3 3.5" Moonrock with the wharncliffe blade in CPM 154. It has the stonewashed finish and its truly the best design I have ever had for a edc type blade. It's in my pocket every day and I use it to cut everything from paper to drywall to carpet to cabling. The blade design is best suited for all around tasks and is not very pointy. The knife it self is a great comfortable design and is very sturdy. If your looking for a good solid folder you can't go wrong. But remember it is a custom knife that is a solid investment but I wont be trying to cut 16 d nails or baton 3" logs with it.

I've had mine for a while but I do remember when his books were open that it was a unbelievable fast turn around for a custom knife.

I have an F3 3.5 and I do carry and use it. As someone else mentioned the ergos aren't the best, the oversized choil doesn't work very well for me. It definitely has lightning fast flipping action and bank vault lockup.

Got the F3 today! Freakishly good flipper as it flipped perfectly from the first time. The action reminds me of Begg Glimpse as it is completly free and there is no tension on the blade in opening and closing. It also feels lighter than I expected and for me that's a good thing.

I opened the postal box with the Nano and completely shredded the box with the F3.
