I bought this knife new from a member here. It is the 3.5 inch variant. The question I have is the the knife sometimes fly's open and other times it won't flip. If I blow in the pivot area it goes away for a little while but still comes back eventually. It feels like a bearings are almost scraping instead of gliding smoothly. It is a very rough feeling. What is the best way to solve this? Will it just go away after breaking the knife in? Also there is some slight vertical blade movement. But the knife is solid side to side wise. Will the vertical go away after break in as well? Other than that the knife is wonderful and super sharp.
 
OK so I tried the wd40 and compressed air that Curtiss suggests and it worked great, the knife I much smoother. But the blade play is still there. Should I send it in or give the knife time to break in and see if it goes away?
 
not sure if blade play will go away with wear, its usually wear that causes the blade play, sounds like it needs to be tweaked and adjusted and unfortunately only dave can do this or you void your warranty. i would send it in, that way he can strip it down and make sure the flipping problems is fixed in addition to the blade play.
 
Tighten the pivot screw and use a good lube like Tuff Glide

WD 40 is a terrible lube in my opinion

I was just following what Curtiss recommends. Does anyone know the best way to contact Dave? He doesn't seem to be responding to emails.
