Another thread that I'm curious about. What do you guys love more? Straight or curved? So far, it seems the curved handles on my axes(boys axe, and GB felling), have me taking VERY accurate swings, to where I can hit a tiny mark on a tree, over and over again. I hear that straight handles or even more accurate? What do you guys say?
Benefits to either one?

Thanks for that. Actually, I have read that before, and I still don't know which is "better." I am trying to decide if I should try a straight handle for my axe, now that i broke the haft, or if I should just stick with the curved, which i love, but have not tried a straight one at all, so I'm still up in the air.
That blog site is a great read though, thanks.

I personally prefer a straight handle, but really don't mind a curved/fawns foot type too much... Straight, slim handles just feel right in my hand, give a better sense of where the bit is/will be as I swing. But that's just me. Couldn't hurt to try one out (a straight handle) since you can always go back to the curved which you know you like.

I use the Scroll Knob handle...a dramatic fawn foot actually....two reasons...i like it, and i use the under bit of the axe to hook branches while hiking in steep terrain...the fawn foot is my handle to pull on..straight handles don't work...all splitting axes i have use straight...chopping limbing axes are curves for single bits.

I've personally always used straight handles because most of my serious axe work is with a DB axe. Except limbing with a shorter axe. In that case, I use something with a foot on it, namely the GBA Forest Axe. Seems handier.

You can talk about the ergonomics of one handle vs another, but the fact is, with a little practice, your brain will learn how to expertly aim any axe bit. Everything else is aesthetic preference.

D Cook is full of sh1t as far as his handle section reads on straight verse curved.

Okay.......seems like just personal preference then. I do believe that one's body can get used to any type of handle, but i'm talking about being overly accurate with a curved handle where it is more or less the first time I've really swung an axe.
I guess maybe because of my experience with a sledge, but again thats straight handled, so i don't know. I will be trying a straight one soon though!
thanks
