I have this very old 6" fixed, curved blade knife with a slot at the base of the blade. There is another non folding small knife that goes into the same hard, what seems to be leather sheath. The handle is wood with indents and rings, about 3" long. There is a design on the end of the handle.
What I need is for Someone to let me send a pic. of it, so We can get it online and figure out just what it is..... Please help and thanks in advance.

You can go to photobucket.com since it's free and upload your pic. I'm sure when one of the mods see's this, they can move this thread to the Bernard Levine (sp?) section and he can help you better. :)

Thank You so Much...... Sentinel2003........... I Wonder how old it is and the name on the blade......."DURGA"???

Glad we could help.

Often, a single post in one forum will lead to an answer, versus the same post in several forums simultaneously.

Check the H.I. reference given, they will be your best resource.

Good luck.

As for the makers name I have no idea. But from the looks of the pommel, with the lions head, its a tourist khuk. Pretty though. I am not the resident expert, so you may want to wait and hear that from a real guru before taking it as a fact.

Yeah, looks like a tourist model. The thing about tourist khuks is that they don't ALWAYS mean junk. Sometimes they will hold somewhat of an edge and can actually do some work. Sometimes the edge is butter and they get all mashed up:( Unless this has some sort of personal value to you, then you might take it out and whack a few branches with it to see how it holds up. If it doesn't and you like it, then check out HI for the BEST khuks in the world. If it holds up and you like it...well you still might want to pick up an HI khuk. There really is no comparison besides the blades being curvy;)

Oh! And welcome, welcome, welcome!:) Be sure to read the safety sticky at the top;)

Yours is indeed a "Tourist Model" kukri...the blade has a very nice shape, though and the whole thing appears to be very well built.
