Has anybody tried putting a Cuscadi CF scale on their Southard yet? Here's a pic from Cuscadi's Facebook page:

If you have, what do you think?

I haven't, but Luke's quality, and service is outstanding, so I imagine they're really nice scales.

So I've heard, Mark. His prices aren't bad either. I may just take take the leap . . .

if you wanted to add some more flavor to the scales, you could probably ask him to do some sort of pattern to it. He's pretty flexible in what he will do.

Are you talking about sculpting the scale? If you are, that might be a possibility. My only concern is that the aero scale appears to be thinned down as the screws aren't recessed. If that's the case, Luke may not have a lot of material to work with.

Yea, I'm talking about sculpting. I'm pretty sure if you wanted it sculpted, that he could make the scale a little thicker, so that it could be done.

Looks like that scale might make it close to the same thickness on both sides. I do like the look of a rounded scale on the Southard, makes it look more like a real Brad S knife.

I would say that the Southard is the perfect opportunity to add a sculptured scale. I sculpted my factory scale (using the shoeshine rag/sandpaper method) and then had it sandblasted and love the result. If I were going for a flat scale I'd get some really thin material. You'd not only save money but it would be symmetric. I thinking some pre-textured Ti about .06 inches? Pretty thin.

Nope. I decided to buy more knives instead of modding my Southard. Getting a Cuscadi scale for my Southard is still on my radar, though. Interestingly, OM's pic makes it appear that the screws on the Cuscadi scale are countersunk, which leads me to believe that the Cuscadi scale is the same thickness as the OEM scale.

Sorry, I should have posted that mine aren't Cuscadi's but rather by Alex Dietz.
