1.) I am preparing to send in my order for a custom 110. The one consistant fault I see on buck knives are broken tips. Will any of the offered steels stand up better to light prying than the others? Yes, I know it is not a prybar, I also know this will be a user and light prying sometimes happens.
2.) Do finger grooves actually have a function, or are they mostly cosmetic?
3.) Does brass polish ruin wood, horn or antler handles?
Thank you very much.

The custom 110's are offered with harder steels, inlcuding BG-42, but prying will risk breaking off the tip regardless of who makes the knife.

Brass cleaner will not hurt the wood. I would recommend using never dull, which is a good cleaner and leaves minimal residue on the knife.

Finger groove functionality depends on how large your mits are. I have small hands and the finger grooves provide for a better grip (minimally). Mostly it's a matter of preference.

Knives ,screwdrivers, needles, toothpicks, coins, are not made for prying at
anytime.Use tools made for prying for prying.I never use a knife for prying.

Finger grooves do have a function, plus they look cool.

Brass polish will not ruin ,bone, micarta,or antler.

Have fun ordering your new knife the Buck custom shop web site is fun to use.

1> Against my moral character to answer
2> Yes
3> No

That is the GREATEST metal cleaner/polish! It is also the easiest to control, as it will not run, drip, or find its way into the crevices of your knives. Whatever they impregnate that wadding with, it sure is amazing stuff. It blows Brasso away, lasts a really long time, and is pretty cheap.

I am going to have to look into this! thanks Mike and Buck_110

no. 1
it is a trade off... harder longer lasting edge = britle if you have an time with a tip breaking off seperating a joint on a deer trying to wedge it a tad
then a drop point is recomended as more back bone to the tip...
no.2
personal to you ... some folks like cow better then deer or buffalo bugger...
no3
with out a dought what they said .... more work but worth it...

(at the greasy bugger place we used to take a tad of catshup on a cloth to clean the copper hood over the grill real quick... i think it was the vinager in it that did the job... did that as then no chemical on a health inspection swipe)
