Hi all,

I've been looking into getting a traditional folding knife and have a thread here http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/906358-Help!-...with-selecting-a-traditional-folder

I was just looking at Buck's site and discovered that I can order a custom 110 with S30V and sambar stag! I think it is exactly, perfectly what I want. Does anyone know if there is a long wait time? Is there some sort of catch I'm not seeing? Sorry for the cynicism, but it seems like it's too good to be true! :D

Also, rivets or no rivets?

Thanks for any input you have.

Jon

Hi Jon,

It's true.....order one and you will love it. See the top of page 9 in this link. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/885859-What-s-your-latest-BUCK/page9

In the photo is two Buck custom shop Sambar Stag knives, the 110 has a DM blade and the 112 has S30V.

They say to expect a 4-6 week wait, but I ordered a couple of weeks ago and mine is already on its way. However, even if it had taken the full six weeks I would have still been happy. I don't think that is a very long time to wait for something being built to order.

Here is a cell phone picture of a few of my S30V Sambar Stag 110s. (I have two others not pictured here.)

The bottom one was a custom shop and is my EDC. It's a good knife, to be sure, but the left scale (shown) is nicer than the right scale in appearance, though I'm sure functionally they are the same. Talk with them on the phone before you place an order, and ask if they'll give you a well matched front to back (L to R) pair of Sambar stag pieces.

But yes, S30V sambar stag 110, it's top drawer.

At this time of year, who knows about the turn around, though when you talk with them they can give you an estimate, and be patient. It's worth the wait.

Good to know to call them. I MUCH prefer the stag with more of the brown/black shades than mostly white...maybe they'll help me out with that. For example, the top two and bottom two in your pic look great to me, but the middle one is too white IMO.

I greatly appreciate the advice!

I just got my Custom Knife Shoppe 110 yesterday, and I love it. It was finished in three weeks from the time I placed the order.

I have one on order, water buffalo with nickel bolsters and s30v blade, I have some engraving on it too! I will post some pics when I get it in a few weeks.

I just got this one in the mail today (Thanks Gordon!). It's a beauty and has me just about convinced to order another one like it except with finger grooves and rivets.
