Custom 112 Ranger - Elk Handle

OK. I just bought a Christmas present for myself but now I realized I should have asked a question first. So, I got the 112 with S30V, elk handle, no rivets, nickel bolsters, and nylon pouch. So here are the questions I have now (after I already order it):
1) I got no rivets because I wanted to see the whole handle be elk. Is this going to weaken the handle? I presume the rivets are still there but not visible. Also, the elk handle in the example looks very good but I've seen examples where the elk handle is almost just white, Hope I don't get that. I am not going to use the knife so it isn't like there is going to be a lot of torsion on the handle.
2) I got the nylon poucn because I felt it could store there forever without being affected by leather chemicals. Is that correct?

It cost a pretty penny and I have to wait forever. I hope it was worth it.

no, wont be any any weaker. rivets are for more classic looks than sheer stength. it's the adhesives they use today where the real strength is.

its hit and miss on elk. ya might get lot of bark or ya might not.

yes the nylon won't make the nickel silver corrode.

I'm sure it will be beautiful......I enjoy the randomness of customs with elk or wood. I'm one of the few here that enjoys what shows up shows up.

I would have ordered exactly the same. Rivets aren't needed and I prefer no drill holes in Elk that could lead to a crack in future even if it's only a remote possibility. I'm sold on Nylon for carry and storage. Good luck on how the Elk looks. You could try to let them know what you're looking for, but I would roll the dice.

That is the same configuration I was planning to order. I spoke with someone in the shop, and they said that after I placed the order, I could call with my order #, and request less/little bark, or more/thicker bark at that time. Still haven't pressed the trigger though...

It's the same configuration I have built many times..Buck did raise prices recently on Customs so it WAS a pretty penny. I'm sure it will be great but why not use it? Consider just 'dress up carry' at the least. My wife told me something I never forgot "Who are you saving it for?" The first day Buck offers ANY drop point 112 in the Custom shop I will order one..not before.

I ordered mine with rivets. I like the way they look, but when I ordered buffalo horn I chose no rivets.
