Some members here said they wanted to see it when it came and well here it is! In an unboxing sort of way. So without further ado here is my valentines to myself :D I got awoken by the ups truck so I stumbled downstairs and saw a little box in front of my door addressed to me. I'm used to getting packages regularly so I picked it up, pulled out my mini ritter grip (yes I sleep with a knife in my pocket..judge me) and opened it not even looking at where it was from. I pulled out those big eco bubble packs to see this

Still not paying any attention, I was like "ooh a benchmade :p" I pulled out the box and slid it open, pulled out the silk bag.

Then it hit me, its my custom 550! That woke me up quicker than 4 cups of coffee.

I'm not happy with the Swoop03 Engraving though. Its smaller than I thought. I guess that the different text caused that. If I get another I'll remember it next time.

I have to admit though, I like the mini ritter better than the 550. Not having full liners in it makes it feel cheap and cheesy compared to the ritter or the PM2 but I'm still loving it. I don't know if I actually wanna carry it though. I've had to clean the handles twice already cause they were dirty from the oily pivot. Also the axis lock is sticking pretty bad if I let it fling open. I assume that is because I have the black axis and is only a temp thing. A little tuff glide later and it moves freely now too. Give it an hour and I'll have it as free as my Ritter and PM2 where it just swings freely with no play still :D Man I love that DLC coating on the Para 2. Look at the scratches on the Ritter blade, now the PM2. I've only had the ritter for a week, the Para for over a year with the same amount of daily use I've been giving the ritter.
 
I think it looks great, man. Yes, some break-in time and lubing of the pivot and Axis mech is usually all it takes. I for one like and would prefer the subtlety of the cursive script and font size on the blade's backside just the way you have it.

Thanks! I figured it just needs broke in. I kinda like the subtlety of it but I still would like it a little bigger for display purposes. I am enjoying it so far! It's just a little bigger than I'd like for carry. The para 2 is a little smaller all around and it was a hair too big still. The ritter is like the perfect size. I think I'm gonna have to get a matching mini grip :D

I've had to clean the handles twice to far though. I have an OCD thing with white stuff that it has to be perfectly clean. haha I don't think this knife is gonna see much use.

It's just a personal thing, for sentimental value. Like a forum knife, its cool to have. You don't get a forum knife in case you forget you're part of it do you?
A conversation piece maybe even. Why do people tattoo their name on their back? Not because they forget but because they can and want to. There is no complicated reasoning, its simple. Don't over think it :D
 
Love it. It's just the way I'd do it, except maybe not the black axis.

I was going to suggest a Rift next, then I saw your size preference. Bummer because that knife is the nicest (for the ching) I've ever had. Sure I have more expensive, more exotic knives, but that sucker is very, very tough to beat. They should make a mini Rift!

I agree with the black axis, I learned from that mistake, after about a few hundred openings it still sticks...lesson learned haha!
I've been liking the 550 more and more everyday lol, I think I could justify a rift next :p Though I have a million knives I want to buy next haha. The all black rift is very attractive looking c: Ha there goes another paycheck down the drain, curse this damned hobby!

Well hey bud before I learned from your experience I WOULD have gone with a black axis, no doubt, so thank you. :thumbup:
