As an owner of a OD 6.5" Custom strider procured from TAD, I have the following comments about the knife and total package. The knife is very well made and the design is excellent. BG-42 and heat treat by Bos. You have to pick this knife up to feel how the design works. The swedge needs touch up to make the blade truly double edge. The reverse grip is outstanding! The knife comes with the best Tactical sheath I have ever handled. You really have to use this sheath to appreciate the thought that went into its design and manufacture(SOEGEAR). The price($725US) may seem high to some, but when I consider the total package provided, I would not hesitate to take this knife anywhere in the world and rely on it to function and its a Mick Strider custom!-Dick

Dear Budrichard,

I have a Tan 6.5" Custom.Underneath the tan cord wrap,
mine is wrapped with OD cord.Does you OD cord wrap have
tan base wrapping?
Regarding the new sheath, I do agree to what you say.
However,it would have been better if the pouch were made
larger to accomodate my AR folder.

Hi Byron,
I own a M. Strider Custom 7.5" that includes green bag, sheath, and cord wrap. Excuse my ignorance here but what exactly is a OD cord wrap other than the cord wrap that we hold onto? Do you mean your underlying cord wrap (OD???) is different in colour (tan on top; green at bottom)? If that is what you mean mine is both uniform green above and below. Hope I'm not confusing this issue. I do agree with you on the mini pouch especially mine fits a 7.5". I think it is a standard pouch SOE uses on 6.5" sheath-I could be wrong. I would say it has about an inch and a half of room for expansion which could fit your AR folder nicely :D .

Josh at TAD told me that there was at least one 6.5 with different cords wraps as you describe in OD Tiger Stripe. I opted for all OD wrap. You apparently have the other combination, tan with mixed cord wrap. -Dick

Dear gentlemen,

Thank you for your replies.
I have found that a member of Strider Forum
here in Japan also have 6.5" Tan with double
layer cord wraps. It is tan on the surface and
OD (Green) underneath.

I am in fact very happy to have this "Custom/Custom"
but am curious to know why they are made this way, if
done intentionally.

Regarding the side pouch on the 6.5" sheath, as Researcher
pointed out the width is fine but the strap is way too short
even extended for accomodating the custom folder.

The underlying cord is thinner. Perhaps they did not have any thin tan cord wrap.
I've got a 7.5 in all OD. Badass...
