Okay, Gents,

I'm set on finding a small fixed (because the Folder wasn't announced at Blade) that can be used for everything. The One, the ONLY knife that needs to be carried daily. If this one can't handle the job I reach for the Axe.:D Or chainsaw.

I was pondering of going to a SAR-4 but that is a little too big and the GW is too small. I think a good solid Active Duty or Meaner is the way to go. I currently have a BAD but that is just not doing it for me. The thin blade is nice and would slice well. But what if I need to cut my way out of a sinking yacht that is on fire? The BAD is just not going to do it. Any other ideas?

Plus, that means I'm looking for pictures of some Active Duties and/or Meaners with Custom Shop handles. Preferably the G-Rex; micarta and/or G-10 combo.

Thanks.

If you are looking to buy a knife, you are in the wrong forum. If you are just looking for pictures, your title is misleading, "Wanted: Custom Active Duty/Meaner for EDC".

.

That wasn't my intentions. I'm just looking for options and of course, pictures.

Fix it.

There are several options for thicker AD and MS. The milganza offerings can still be found at great prices and are around .20 thick:thumbup:
Very sturdy bades:cool::cool:

I do not have any of these any more...;);)

Here's a custom shop Meaner with some nice wood handles along with an SE and a regular black and tan. The Meaner is a great EDC choice.

I live in CO, 3.5" blade limit, my goto EDC is a .20 Active Duty (actually an HD, but hey). The Milli AD's are readily available on the X at a descent price, same knife.

It's a stout little blade that I've done all sorts of fun things to.

I always felt the original AD was a bit anorexic, I like the BAD, but I'm afraid I'll tweak it, same with the Muskrat.

My little tank skinner :D

Hacking out of a burning sinking yacht

Here's a picture I saved that someone else posted in the past. (Hope this is ok to post) Might help compare sizes for you.
Top to bottom: ABA LE, Leaner, Cultellus, AD, GW.

Meaner Street for my most often carried blade. Trusty blade. Car doors fear it:eek:

I don't carry mine but I think for everyday use the BAD is perfect. I think it would cut the ropes of sinking yacht that is on fire. Who has a yacht that we could try, I got the knive...
The AD is pretty nice but I'm not sure a thicker blade and more weight would help much...
I don't know if you have handles the SAR4 yet, but it's a bigger knife, I don't know if I could carry that everyday everywhere...
And you have to keep in mind, there is no point in having a knife if you don't carry it and need it, better to have it and not need it then the other way around.

As mentioned, I'd look at the Mil-ganza offerings. Then, if you want, have someone put custom slabs on it. There are plenty of guys here that can do that for you. This is likely your cheapest route as a custom shop AD or Meaner is probably $500. You could knock $50-100 off of that and get the handle of your choice if you have a bit of time to wait.

Thanxx. :D ...I kinda have a thing for the Active Duty model and its variants. ;)

The top one in your post is the Drunken Duty (hammered finish), a one of a kind from a Knob Creek show, and the other is a Snakeskin micarta variant which is a one of two from a Ganzaaa.

The third is either natural or bleached giraffe bone set in G-10 G-rex style, IIRC... 6th is blue dyed giraffe bone with red G-10 liners... 8th is some sort of stabilized burl wood.

Excellent, thank you.
