Custom alternative to strider?

I've been looking for a new folder to take the top spot in my EDC rotation. I've been looking at the strider sng with flame anodized frame and stonewashed blade and I like them a lot, but I'm thinking for that much money I should be considering a nice custom as well. My only requirement is that it's a framelock, and I prefer s30v. Can anyone point me in the direction of any good custom makers I should look at? I'd like to stay in the same general price range as much as possible. Thanks.

Greg Lightfoot, Les George, Kirby Lambert,...

Kind regards,

Jos

I would second Les George. He can make about anything you want to the specs you want and do it well.

Besides the makers listed, I would also suggest:
Andy Fitz, GTC, Bob Terzuola, DDR, Shane Sibert (if you can find one.), Todd Begg, Jens Anso, Tom Mayo...........

I had not seen Les George's work before. I really like how stout and sturdy his stuff looks. I see one of his in my future, yup I think I'll order one of those base model folders. Love that simple look.

Snody, Lightfoot, Coogler, Sibert, Terrell, Begg, too many to list but this is a good start.

It sounds like you're looking for a 3.5 inch framelock that's around $400....

A lot of great makers have been listed here but many of them are liner locks and most are more than $400 (at least new). That said, with that criterion, I would probably take a look at Lightfoot, Lambert, and Hinderers Gen.III XM-18 as well as the Burke Rockstar. Most of these will all cost closer to $500 (unless you can get an XM directly from Rick and also the Burke) but many of the other makers listed will be $600 and above. Then again, you can't go wrong with an SNG.
