So, I recently found out about this awesome company called Tie Tactical based in Mesquite, TX. I had them make a custom kydex/tec-lok sheath for my Hinderer XM-18 3.5" Spearpoint. Check out the pics below and especially the attached vid - AWESOME imho. Can't wait to get it back! BTW, that is NOT me in the vid - that's Kevin M Robinson from Tie Tactical. Feedback would be most welcome.

I'd rather just cut a wave hook.

So, cutting a wave hook into the spine of the blade is better? What if I want to sell the knife later (which I won't btw)?

A wave makes it one quick motion. With the sheath, you unlock it then pull. Still seems quick, but two distinct motions.

Pretty cool though if you like to sheath carry a folder.

Do you know how it deploys the blade?

I haven't gotten it back yet, but suspect it engages the flipper to deploy the knife. I know what you all are getting to about grinding in a wave, but would seriously doubt I'd do that to any of my $400+ knives unless I knew for sure I was never going to sell it. A Spyderco? Most probably would do it... a Hinderer? 99.9% sure I wouldn't - that's what the sheath is for.

Yea i wouldnt put one a Hinderer either.

I assumed it caught the thumb stud.
Keep us posted when you get it!.

You obviously don't know me then. I've cut wave hooks into $1100 customs (right). I've ground off the flipper on a $1300 DDR (left) because the flipper would snag and it hinderered my wave draw.

yep - that'll more than do the job... but like I mentioned, you'll probably keep them for yourself instead of trading/selling them off. If that were the case, I wouldn't have a problem modding my knives either... I had 2 of my other Hinderers coated in black DLC (aftermarket) - love the way they look, but would never sell them.

very cool rig !

I don't own any high dollar customs - but I'm happy to hack up perfectly good knives and improve them.

i have a waved Spyderco, a couple with glow in the dark dots, and a couple of SS ones with stippling applied with a dremel.

improving knives is fun, but some knives are better left alone.

wouldn't mind having a locking kydex sheath for my Surefire 9P or HDS Flashlights though..........
