Hi, I want to have a fairly unique Custom Axe/hammer-hawk made. Can anyone provide builder recommendations please? This will be heavily used in the field and will likely be my main tool of this type for extended backcountry escapades so need something which is tough as nails, etc.
Has to fell small/med trees, delimb, split wood, break bone, hammer tent stakes, assist with skinning and general backcountry work. Jack of all trades...
At a high level want something similar to http://www.gransforsbruk.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/418-Gränsfors-Hunter´s-Axe.pdf
But with a hammer like butt, steel collar just below the head to protect it during splitting work, about 5" non bearded cutting edge, roughly 20" handle, modern steel, dry hardwood and a few other items. Lightweight is good as long as it doesn't too terribly affect function.
Thinking about (if possible) embedding a titanium or similar tube into the handle to store emergency gear.
If anyone could direct me to the guys/gals who are at the top of their field in this type of work would appreciate it. I don't mind paying for quality.
Thanks.
Josh
