Hey folks,

I noticed lots of posts here about handles and axes. I am trying to find someone who would make a custom axe handle (that would fit a Pulaski head) in a 40" rather than 36" length. Lots of tall guys on the fireline would be exceptionally grateful to find someone who could make us a longer handle.

Thanks in advance,
Adam

I suggest that you email the guys at TheAxeHole (dot com) because they sell some New Old Stock axe handles, and might still have some "Pacific Coast Felling Axe Handles" which should be able to fit a pulaski. They previously listed prices for these in 40", 42", and 44" lengths (the old prices were 20-something dollars each).

The axe handle makers like Tennessee Hickory Products might be willing to make some at wholesale prices if you order 10 dozen or so.

Contact a blacksmith like Brent Bailey or Med Chandler, or if there is a wood working shop near you (like a cabinet maker), they can probably make one for you easily.

Gov't workers? Wish, want and need are entirely different critters. Link Products mass produces Pulaski hafts (they're hugely oversized but the eye fit is good) and maybe you can contact them about making a run of longer hafts.
40 inch handle has gotta be a stretch for anybody that is under 6 foot tall. I'm 6 foot and have never had a use for anything that is over 36 inch.
