My first post, what do you guys think about this 45cm long bowie?

Took you long enough?.....:confused::D

How about a few more details on the knife? It looks pretty good.

You could also put a few more details in your profile? Who you are?
Were your from? How long have you making knives? Do you do it full time?

Welcome to Bladeforums. -

Your english is OK - reading you just fine. -:)

So can you tell us, who is the maker?:)

It's a pity that some people only know there are so many counterfeit knives made from China.
As most of the Chinese excllent custom knife makers don't speak or write English, they don't have the opportunities to share their works with blade ethusiastis from other countries.

The maker's nick is Kuyu. 酷鱼
You may google "酷鱼 博伊" to see more pics about his works.
And I don't believe he is a member of this forum.
He just started to making knife about 3-4 years ago. Before he became a professional maker, his worked as a ordinary company salesman.

Very nice bowie
Lots of thanks for the thread Seuguy :)

What's the technique used to differentially hardened the blade?

Does Kuyu make any traditional Chinese knife?
I don't really know how the traditional Chinese knife looks like. CMIIAW, it might be just like the one in the picture below.

Well, I don't know the exact term for that harden process, but I do know that was done in a way similar to japanese katana heat treated methods.

To my knowledge, Kuyu mainly concentrates on bowie type knives, while several other makers' products have chinese traditional elements

That's a pretty big knife! The blade's almost 18 inches!!

Nice filework on the spacer. Thanks for sharing. :)

I have nothing but respect for the craftsman who made this knife, and Chinese handmade knife makers in general.

China, with it's inclination to openly copy existing production and handmade models has given the industry a bad vibe (not just knives!) But, that said, it is a country with billions of people, of which generalizations cannot be overcast on all.

I own a knife by Ce Sun, and it's one of my VERY prized knives for the artistry, craftsmanship and overall beauty. This new maker shows that kind of dedication, too.

Thanks for the post. Keep them coming.

Very nice looking Bowie, seuguy !
Welcome to BladeForums and thanks for posting ! :)

Fine looking bowie from a maker who posses considerable skills.
Has an ABS flair even though I assume the blade is stock removal as opposed to forged by maker.
