Hello! I am new here to the forums and have a quick question about custom handle material for a 110.

I am wanting to order a custom Buck 110 in silver bolsters and one of the wood choices I was thinking of was the Cherrywood. So I looked all over the net for pictures and I came up with Cherrywood pictures and Cherry Dymondwood pictures. My question is, are these two woods the same wood or different? I found two different pictures, the first one the user said it is Cherrywood and the second says Cherry Dymondwood, but the first picture looks like a lot darker wood. It is hard ordering a custom knife without being able to see a "real" idea of what your knife will look like. I am wanting the darker wood, but don't want to order it and have it come looking like lighter wood pictures cause that would be disappointing.

Thanks for your help in advance :)

Sorry I can not answer your question but the cherry from the custom shop looks great, I have two customs and think the cherry is awesome for sure. I have the NS bolsters as well and they go great with the cherry wood, add the S30V blade and you have one super knife for sure.

Yes, I will definitely be adding the S30V. I like the Cherrywood, I guess I just like something dark rather than light, thats why I am wondering the real color of it. I might go with the black, but want to find out first what the real Cherrywood looks like, maybe it is the same wood but looks different in the light, I just dont know; Wish I could see it in person :)

Get the ram's horn. Please pick the horn. I can't get enough of seeing the ram horn scales. Wood schmood. Horn is the ticket.

You are in Oregon. Only a few hours from the Buck factory. Go to Post Falls, Idaho and ask to see the scales yourself in order to make a choice. The people there will take good care of you.

Welcome. The color will vary on the wood because of the dye. It's best to telephone them and ask to talk to someone in their custom shop. Good shopping. DM

Good idea, I will probly call their shop and ask if they are different woods. I would love to go to the factory but I am quite a few hours away in Medford, probly a days drive ;)

If you want wood, check out the indingo royalwood option, that makes a beauty of a knife with silver nickle bolsters and s30 v blade. Its a looker! The cherrywood i don't care for unless its very dark.

The nature of horn,-- the manner in which it is grown makes it stronger than antler. Still, I would not subject mine to testing. Nor would I care to drop either one as heat and age play a role for it to become brittle. The same can happen with stone. Another natural material. Man made materials like micarta are much more resilient as is the wood laminate. DM
