Custom Buck 110's?

Well, I've been thinking about getting a custom Buck 110 from the Buck Custom Shop. I've got a few questions for anyone who might know the answers.

1.) Are the things on the website the only available materials? (i.e can I get Ebony Macassar Dymondwood or Cocobolo scales?) Like if I sent them a message or something telling them exactly what I want, could I get it?

2.) I've heard that the custom knives are as good if not better quality than the standard ones. Is this true?

3.) (Kind of a stupid question, but a valid one :)) Are these knives good for EDC? (I do not abuse knives by any means.) Or are they more of a collector's knife? (One that's supposed to be in a glass display case and rarely used.) Can they stand everyday use?

Thanks!

Yes to the first part of number 1, you get a choice of what they have on the website, number 2 is a yes and they are nicer than the normal 110. Yes to number 3 they are good for EDC and some people do that.

I have two custom shop 110's. Both have S30V blades, both have NS Bolsters and one is smooth water buffalo horn scales and the other is cherry wood scales. The S30V blades are super sharp and they are a big step up from the normal 420 HC but you can get that blade too if you want it. It takes about 4 weeks from order to your door and they come in a black box. You can have initials or a name put on them as well.

Carried mine yesterday. It is a heavy knife that I would not EDC everyday. However it is a rock solid classic that everyone should own. If you do plan to EDC I highly recommend using the sheath! Way too heavy to just throw in your pocket.

I would DEFINITELY use the sheath. Why would I want to keep such a work of art hidden away in my pocket? :)

Carrying a custom Buck 110 in your pocket is like wearing socks with sandals. It's just embarassing.

Regardless of the blade type you choose, the fit and finish of the custom shop 110s is near perfection. It comes ridiculously sharp and even in 420, mine out preformed all my other knives. The extra care is more than worth the extra money. I got one in 420, blue indigo, and nickle silver bolsters.
