Custom Buck Questions and Pictures

I have had this one for a while. It belonged to a friend who passed away. He used to be a rep for Buck. My questions, Is the signature on the back of the blade a normal thing? What do you think the handles are made of.

great looking knife:thumbup: signature probably added by owner imo don't know about the scale material but some of these guys on will be able to help you out i'm curious to know myself
 
I have the exact same knife(it appears), minus the signatures. Mine has a serial number only. The inlay is Elderwood Burl and they came out as a Limited Edition in 2002, the 100th Anniverary of Buck knives. Why yours is signed and not serial numbered could possibly be answered by CJ if he sees this thread. I think one of the signatures is his and the other is Chuck Bucks. I have a couple of knives with the blades signed just like that.

My best guess would be a salesman's sample....That would explain the lack of a serial number.Being a rep's knife...
