Hello! So I’ve been doing Gerson therapy for treatment of some tumors, which involves a heck of a lot of making fresh carrot juice. However, the problem is that the juicers they recommend are quite pricey, around 2500$. Rather than spend that — and we wanted to go manual anyways — we tried out several different tools, apple cider griders, meat griders, regular graters. We found that just a regular fine carrot grater works the best and gets the most juice out, but they don’t hold an edge worth crap even if they start out sharp and they don’t really resharpen.
I’m wondering (and maybe this is completely the wrong forum for this! If anyone has a better suggestion on where to look please tell me) if someone could make me a custom carrot grater, fine holes for making very small shreds, but big enough holes that I could slip a thin file in there for resharpening. Thicker walls than a normal carrot grater for durability. I’m aware that it’ll take more care than a normal grater and that I’d have to oil it, etc. That’s fine. I also own and use carving knives and a bearded carving axe, so I’m not new to that.
Anyone up for a challenge?
