Anyone have a good design for a carrying rig for a 15" villager? Sarge was nice enough to send an excellent blade for my buddy over in Iraq and I'm just about to send it off to him (he just now got me the APO info). I want to be certain that he will be able to attach it somewhere on his belt or rigging where it will not be in his way yet be readily available in case he needs it. Most pics show the knives being worn in a cross body draw at the waist. Any other ideas for him to consider? I know many carry their K-bars upside down on the H or Y harness.

maybe something with that plasticy heat shapable stuff... name escapes me at the moment

and I was thinking depending on the cho you may be able to put a button strap pulling against the cho so it could be carried upside down.

kydex is the plastic you are thinking of. a search thru the cantina on scabbards or sheaths will bring up this oft discussed subject, and there are threads on how to make your own, not only in kydex but wood, leather, speed rigs etc. dan koster has a nice thread or three on how to do it in kydex.

If that khukuri is headed o'er the pond and into the sandbox...the kydex sheath is on me. I'll set it up for the TekLok system and toss one in for him.

Email me for address and I'll get it done the day it arrives.

He will need eyelets, lots of eyelets, for attachement to web gear using alice clips.

Here is my tutorial. I am a soldier and I made this rig to my tastes. I carry it either drop leg or upside down(blade edge up) SOB under my buttpack. You cant even see it and it never gets in the way there. My Khuk is a 16" AK. It is very sharp, I have a nice scar to prove it.

Azsoldier...I really dig that tutorial! :)

Git 'r done Dan :D

My boys did some serious tinkering with their sarki made khuk scabbards over in the 'Stan, especially the ones being inserted/extracted by helo. The pointy metal chapes went away quick, and some sort of retention device was added. Everything from boot blousing bands to a twist of solder wire (an old Navy Seal trick).
The standard scabbards did okay, wrapped in duct tape, or given a stitched up fabric slip cover ala Terry Sisco. But, kydex would have been the cat's pajamas. :D

I know for sure that Dan's kydex with the Teklok works great. Well, at least for the little K3 Karda he sent me while I was playing in the SandBox. I'm thinking that maybe I need a kydex sheath for my 12" villager AK. Hmm, Dan, did I ever tell you that that little blade was about the handiest tool I had over there? Used it for all sorts of cutting chores. Worked great as a steak knife a couple of times. Very seldom needed sharpening. Cut everything from, well, steak to metal banding. Cut a seatbelt one time too. Seatbelt buckle broke and I couldn't get out of the truck to recover another truck that got hit by an IED. Glad I had it with me. It was attached to my body armor with 550 paracord, using the TekLok. I can see the same system on a khuk to attach it to body armor.

Awesome. I have one of Dan's Kydex rigs, and they are awesome.

You guys are making my head swell....!
