Custom Civilian

Thanks for the heads up...
I'd never seen his work on a Civilian before.
The guy is incredible.

That IS a beautiful custom job! Must have taken a CF plain edge and stripped it down for the project. Perish the thought that an original PE Tuffram might have provided the guts of the conversion.

You are correct. I was going to send him a Tufram, but the work involved in doing the handle was going to be prohibitive. He has done them in the past though.

I was actually concerned that one of the 300 or so (original) PE Tuffram models might have been used for this. As a collector, the thought makes me cringe. Obviously, if that is what someone wants to do with their knife, great. The knife becomes a different sort of collector's piece, but the "traditonalist" wishes a less-rare Civie were to serve as the platform (and it was, to a point).

I do admire the knife that this has become.

I understand completely. Originally I was going to send a tufram civilian because I had more than one:D

Frank recommended the carbon fiber because it would be much easier to work with, (hence less expensive). Plus I picked one up at a very reasonable price..

"Originally I was going to send a tufram civilian because I had more than one"

Well, THAT explains why you also needed a one-of-a-kind version...you already have the rest!!!
Congrats on a wonderful acquisition!
