We'll call it a triple-C...

Who here wouldn't pay $200 for a Spyderco Tom Mayo knife? I know I would. I'd own a TnT by now but the price is just through the roof. Even if I had that kind of money for knives laying around, I wouldn't get one because I know I'd lose the knife and kick myself for a year.

So, what would a Spydie Mayo accomplish? It'd be Spydie's first framelock model. It would get the round hole on a Mayo knife. It would be the clear flagship model. It would be all things to all people.

How would it cost only $200? Well, you'd need to take the TnT and remove one of the Ts. That is, either use a steel framelock (a la Camillus) with a Talonite blade, or use a Titanium framelock with VG-10. Personally, I'd opt for the former, as a Spyderco in Talonite makes me drool, and I've already owned Spydercos with Ti handles.

Who's with me here?

I think it would be a great idea. I personally like most of the TnT designs better than the Sebenza. Plus, we know Spyderco already has a drill press for the holes :D . I would like Titanium with a BG-42 blade (this is an option on Mayo knives anyway).

Damn good idea, better than a Chris Reeve/ Spyderco collaboration IMHO.

I'm all for it! 'Cept I'd go for the titanium handles and VG-10 blade. I don't think VG-10 is as brittle as is BG-42. It wouldn't seem like such a "copy" of the Sebenza then either. Frankly, I think that with the Ti handle and VG-10, they could do it for less than $200. I know I'd really like to see how well Spyderco could do a frame lock, after owning the Wegner liner lock.

Yes, that sounds like a great idea. Titanium handle plus an integral lock, Spydie hole in the blade and I am happy. VG-10 for the blade would be a fine choice as well.

Sounds like a great idea to me.
I'll take one in BG-42 or VG-10, but only if it has the option of TIP-UP carry:p

Ok, so which one?
I'll nominate the large JF since that's the one that turns me on the most:)
Chamfered hole, please.

I don't know...I think I'd prefer the Talonite blade with non-Ti handles. The handles really don't have to be Ti; there's no huge difference. But a Talonite Spyderco...now we're talking.

i really like the idea of a talonite spyderco, but i think vg10 would be more likely to happen.

There is a huge difference between the performance of titanium and steel. None of the new crop of steel handled frame lock knives really makes the grade, even with an upgrade from the mediocre blade steel employed. Too bad, it is a waste of some good knife designs.
