If anybody has recommended custom sheathmakers, please lmk.

I've just gotten an estimate from Rowe's Leather (Here's their website ) and it'll cost me $90 for the style I want -- natural color oak-leaf design like the Cowboy item on that webpage. It'll take 4 - 6 weeks for my order.

I checked a couple other sources but they're not available to do this in the near future.

I'm also toying with the idea of putting a 3rd pouch in front --- for a folder, but I'm wondering if it'll be overkill (not to mention weighting down the whole unit).

One thing I'm not comfortable with is having to ship my knives over. If it's a long lead time, that usually means your knives are out of commission for that length of time, and I'll be worried about my knives.

But the good thing with Rowe's is that you can reserve for time, and when they're ready to do your sheath, you can wait to ship your knives then.

I'd try Heber aka WildmanH here on the SOG forums, I hear he has a good turn around and I think he even has those knives in hand, out of the 40 or so he has its a good chance he does. :) D

Just a heads up, most of us sheathmakers dont have a real wide range of knives in stock, sometimes one has to send the knife in for fitting, Most of us will do what Rowe does, I do. It doesnt make sense to have the knife sitting in the shop taking up space while we get to your order. And please dont worry about your knife bro! None of us will let your knives get beat up, were knife nuts too. ;)

Give Heber a try, if not then theres several others that will do just as good a job. MtMike and Lifter come to mind, I can fish up their addresses if you need, were all a community of sheathmakers and will help you find the right person for the job. :D:D

Wildmanh does a very fine job, he's currently making one for my Hankins.

Cheers,

Carl

p.s. uh, Wildmanh, you are working on it, aren't you ??

Hi guys, thanks for the kind words. Unfortunantly I don't have any of the Seal knives right now and don't have the time to do sheaths for anyone. If I did have the knives and the time, I think it would be fun to do. I'd look into MtMike and Lifter as Leatherman sugests.

Heber

P.S. Carl, your sheath is almost done. Would be, if I could find it! thought it was hiding under my bed but it's not. I'll have to go back to my old place and tear up my brothers storage shed. I know it's around here somewhere. Soon mate, soon. If it's gone I'll get a new pattern from you and get this one done faster. Sorry. Moving and job changes aren't fun.. I'll tell you about them sometime. :o

Well here's further development. A few weeks ago, I put my name in the waiting list for Rowe's Leather for my combo sheath. I got the call earlier last week, I overnighted my Seal 2000 and Seal Pup. By the end of last week, I got a call that it was finished, made payment arrangements and it was to be shipped to me by the end of the week.

It's the holidays right now so mail is a little slow, but that's not a bad turnaround. Can't wait to get my sheath and knives back!

I bet they are going to look amazing, please post pics when you get them back, they should be impressive !
