Howdie Guys,
1rst time posting, please forgive any reposts or "wrong question in wrong forum"...
Got me an RTAK ComboEdge for "work" and play.
Nice piece of steel, but the sheath reeks: far from secure in any aspect, under any circumstance, much less the ones it was supposedly intended for (ridiculously small gear pocket included).
The Wifey's taken it upon herself to remedy this situation
Who ever said Holy Matrimony didn't have it's perks?) Ehehe...
Here's the Q: Been searching online for anyone capable of producing a custom heavy duty cordura sheath (with Kydex/Concealex reversible insert) & a large gear pocket on sheath, additionally secured by flaps & side sqeeze clip . The sheath must be designed for both vertical & horizontal carry. Amongst other things... Something along the lines of the SPEC.-OPS. COMBAT MASTER FIXED BLADE KNIFE SHEATH and the SPEC.-OPS. SURVIVAL FIXED BLADE KNIFE SHEATH... Both of which look awesome, but can't fit my "Big Boy".
Tried customizing the stock sheath myself, but ran into some major probs "securing" extra material to the heavy duty Cordura. My work just ain't "safe" enough for the use intended.
Only managed to find (prolly searching it wrong or something) http://www.edgeguardsheaths.com/ as far as a fully customized rig is concerned, but (starting @) $108.00 for the standard sheath (for 7" blades) seems kinda steep to me when considering all the extra "work" I plan on having put on... Don't get me wrong, quality work ('specially customized stuff) usually comes w/a hefty price tag (which I have resigned myself to accept) but I won't purchase anything til I've run completely outta options & found what suits my needs best, u know...
Any of you guys ever dealt w/EdgeGuard? Any reviews on their work?
Anyone ever contact SPEC.-OPS for custom orders?
But most importantly, any other providers out there?
Wifey's been emailing companies left, right & center, but without much luck...
I figured you guys might be able to shed some light on my "quest"...
Thanx for anything y'all may be able to come up with!
Much appreciated, much appreciated...
