I recently aquired a custom Wegner frame lock by Phil B at a nice price.
I have always loved the ergo's of this design and definitely liked the idea of a frame lock.
The problem I had is I could not keep a good grip on the "orange peel" finish.
I made a set of Micarta scales for it, tapped the frame for 5 mounting screws and replaced the silver clip with a black one. I also didn't re-drill the tip down holes since I will only be using it for tip up carry.
The scales are formed to follow all of the original lines of the knife and apply seamlessly over top of the ti scales.
I think the knife now offers all of the advantages of the dual linered version with the benefit of thicker liners and a frame lock. It has a great feel in the hand and the Micarta grips nicely.
I know, it may be an atrocity to change a custom makers work but now the knife is everything I want and it was a fun project
