I was looking around and saw that Meyerco had teamed up with Kirby Lambert to make the shockwave which looks like a production version of Mr. Lamberts knife. There is the Spyderco Southard as well as the Techno that look nearly identical to their custom counterparts. So it got me thinking, what other custom knife designs have been mass produced?

a good deal of the Ken Onion designs (for kershaw) have a custom counterpart...

The zt Hinderers come to mind especially the 0560/0561. They have a new 0566 coming out also Hinderer. Many of the new Kershaw knives and zt's coming out this year are also collaborations.

Edit: got ninja'd by bill

CRKT has a number of different custom knifes from Brian Tighe and other makers that they have put into production. There are also a lot of "inspired by" knives out there- especially with Loveless and fixed blades. This could be a very long thread if we named them all.

boker nano and pipsqueak both started as customs by curtiss knives and blackwood knives. the spyderco southard is based on the custom by the maker with the same name

Spyderco has done collaborations with a number of custom makers, with the end result usually pretty close to one of the maker's custom pieces. Bob Lum, Frank Centofante, Bob Terzoula , Jerry Hossom, Bill Moran, Jess Horn, Des Horn, Ed Schempp, Pekko Tuominen, and Jens Anso are the ones I can think of offhand. The Benchmade 650 Spike was a production version of one of Phil Boguszewzki's designs, and they've worked with a bunch of other makers as well.

My Favorite is Boker's production of Lucas Burnley's Kwaiken Folder. Luc's design might be my favorite folding knife design (in competition with Ray Laconico's Slim EDC). Boker's production quality is very high as well. It is in the Plus line, which is Asian produced, but I'm 99% sure the Kwaiken comes from Taiwan, not China, and the fit and finish is very, very good. I can only ask for a higher grade steel and a backspacer in something other than plastic. But overall, it is fantastic.

I've handled one before. The detent on that thing is a thumb buster. Really poorly executed like a lot of Boker's other knives.

How is this for a brain twister...

Kirby Lambert and Greg Lightfoot both have custom designs that are quasi mass produced by Darrell Ralph's HTM who has has Meyerco mass produce some of his designs...
