Custom Diamond stones for the Edge Pro Apex?

Hey guys, I was wondering if it would be possible to cut down their 2 inch by 6 inch stone in half to make a 1 inch by 6 inch stone so that it is easier to handle and not so limited to just larger knives without bellies. if anyone has done this, can you please post a picture of the final product? and my final question is, is the Dmt stone its self too hard to cut in half? my guess is that its on a piece of aluminum and the diamonds cant be completely protecting that aluminum plate its on.... any help would be appreciated.

P.s: I know they have atoma stones, however they are just waaaay too expensive for me and it would be literally almost 3 times cheaper to cut a DMT in half if at all possible.
 
Edge Pro sells a 1x6 diamond stone in medium and fine (not atomas) on their website, in case you weren't aware.
 
Yeah, I did know that, thankyou, however I am looking for something that has extra coarse and coarse along with the fine and extra fine so I dont have to buy alot of coarse grit stones and I can save the job for the higher grits for real stones.
