I recently had some off line discussions in reference to one of my customs, and thought I would quiz the bretheren for some consistancy. This is on the "pre cataloged" models. I have a couple black oxide, sculpted handled customs (Banana and Rogue Warrior), I know Tami has a similar Trident, and Ashley Emerson has a Bodyguard done the same way. It is my understanding that these "truely tactical" and usually mission built knives are never followed up in the catalog or even as customs, quite the same way. I have seen other Emersons done this way, but they were always the very first models build, and usually for the spec ops community, and never repeated. Is this consitant with what others have seen as well? If anybody has owned an older Rhino, was it black oxide and sculpted, or the standard Blk. T or Satin? I am just trying to get an idea of what is floating around out there, or others experience.

You got pics of these sculpted handles? I always assumed (which one should never do, but I did anyway) That all of Ernie's non-production stuff was Ti/micarta. Guess I was incorrect (as usual, it seems)

As if I knew this question would come up one day . . . .

Here is a picture of two CQC8s from the infamous Las Vegas shoot of Nyeti's and Tamishigiri's collections:

Here is a great shot from Patrick of a CQC8 with contoured scales:

LOL Sorry about that, John. I meant to edit that post with a "maybe I should just go look in the Gallery" snippet, but I forgot.

I recentlty posted "Customs" asking about differences in the knives when received. As far as the CQC8 goes. I was sent a reply from Ernie that he will no longer make the 8 with contoured scales.
