Custom DMT Stones for Edge Pro?

Anyone managed to make DMT stones work with their Edge Pro Apex? Can you mount them on the extra bases they sell? I'm about to take the plunge & buy an Apex but I'm a big fan of the DMT stones & have them all exept the XX coarse for my Aligner kit.

If I can do this I'll just buy the Apex 1 kit & the polishing tapes instead of the Apex 4 kit. I don't want to drop the extra cash if I'm going to eventually discover a way out there to rig it for my DMTs anyway. Thanks.

What size DMT's do you have? 2x6 stones work the best. Your better off ordering custom cut aluminum from Speedy Metals than trying to stick a DMT stone on a tape blank.

I have the standard size ones that go with the DMT Aligner kit. There was no pic but that sounds like they're mounting standard DMT benchstones for use with the Edge Pro. Nice. That's a must-have for fixed blades.

I was able to mount the big six inch diamond stones on mine. PM me and I'll reply with pics of how I did it. Real simple.

Would DMT's be hard to cut? I'd like some narrower stones, like a 1/2 inch or so for recurves.

I don't sharpen recurves on an EP. But if I did, I'd just use a rounded DMT like this one.

You can purchase normal Edge Pro stones cut to 1/2 inch widths and I have read people having good results with them on recurves. I have also seen someone custom cutting Shapton and Naniwa stones down to half inch widths for mounting on Edge Pro blanks but they're not widely available cut down like that. I assume someone with a nice tile or stone cutter could do it?

I have used the normal 1 inch stones on recurves, slight recurves like a ZT350 and a Kershaw Tyrade, and it sharpens well but it does round the edges of the stones and I can see where I would benefit from a narrower stone. However, I would like to try that curved stone mounted on an Edge Pro blank. It is too bad that it only comes in one grit.
