Custom Dorado Scales

The birchwood scales on my Dorado were getting pretty beat up from banging around in my pocket with car keys and milk money. So I decided to make a set of custom scales out of 'translucent' buffalo horn

I still need to do some final fitting and polishing, but what do you think?

I like it! The fibrous buffalo horn should stand up well to the war zone in your pockets too!

Very nice work, Messer! It looks great! I'll bet some outside pics would make the horn really glow.

Knifeschmied, that knife looks pretty good. If you allow me to write my opinion: Don't polish the scales. Matt finished they apply perfect to the rest of the knife.

Best,
Haebbie

I kind of like the matte finish also. I have a matching set of blank scales for my 277 Alpha Hunter so that will be my weekend project.

...Great "tinkerin' " job there Messy...I like those scales a lot. I'm with some of the other guys though...I'd leave 'em "rough" like they are...They look terrific...:)
