I purchased a Custom knife made by "Larry Dula" in Lenoir N.C. He makes a lot of traditional knives & Hawks for re-inactors. The knife I purchased is a more modern skinner/hunter with a up-swept blade, hidden tang, camel bone handle & silver bolster. The steel used was "1011 carbon steel". He said that some knife makers in West Virginia thought highly of the steel. The knife & sheath are quite good quality (the sheath was made by "Sherry Lott"). I'm looking for comments on both Dula & 1011 steel. Anyone heard of either?? Thanks in advance for comments. Best regards and have a great day.

I assume that 1011 is either a misprint or is not a regular carbon steel designation. If it was a normal designation it would imply that it had only 0.11% of carbon (barely a steel at all). Maybe it is supposed to indicate 1.1% carbon which would be a step up from 1095 which has around 0.95% carbon.
