Besides Godspeed tactical, which is my 1st choice at this point and Apocalypse gear. Are there any other sheaths I should be considering for my new esee 6? I would really love one of those fancy leather modular sheaths, but they are a little pricy. Which of course I understand quite a bit more work goes into one of those compared to a kydex sheath. Thanks for your help all!!

Godspeed tactical (eli) has been banned from blade forums for screwing people over. I'd rather poke myself in the eye than deal with him. Azwelke makes good sheaths. Other than that I don't know. I like the stock Esee 6 sheath quite a bit.

Oh wow I had no idea. Well good to know, will not be ordering one from him then thanks!

You don't like the factory sheath? It's a great sheath in just about every way, but I understand if you want something different. I had my 6 set up with a Molle backer and pouch. It was perfect. I don't have the 6 anymore, but now have a LS set up the same way.

I actually don't have the knife yet. Just ordered it and had an esee and a couple izula and didn't care for the cheap plastic sheaths they came with. I also kinda wanting molle attachments. I usually just hook my larger knives on the molle webbing of my packs. Plus like having a fire kit and a firesteel loop?

Oh, you don't have the sheath yet? I actually really like the molded sheaths Esee does. I'm glad the switched the 4 from the kydex to the plastic. They work great and are more resistant to the elements (kydex will deform in extreme heat, say if you left it in a hot car). Also, I like the small physical form factor of the plastic. Often, kydex sheaths are made with a lot of extra material around the eyelets. I am no kydex bender, so their may be a good reason for this but I can't figure it out. On many of my kydex sheaths I trim the extra material off. But don't get me wrong, Esee kydex sheaths and kydex sheaths in general are very much prefered but to me Esee improved from the kydex with the injected plastic. All this asaid, if you didn't like the Izula sheath (which I love) you likely won't like the other plastic sheaths. There are plenty of good kydex guys out there who can do exactly what you want. I have two Azwelke kydex sheaths (TGLB & Ratmandu) and the are of very good quality. I believe you can get the holes drilled for whatever attachment you want. He did my TGLB sheath for an Esee 5/6 clip plate.

Thanks for the kind words! We do have ESEE and other brands that support Bladeforums on our site.

I'm gonna check Azwelke out for sure. But then again maybe I just need to give the Esee sheath a chance. Thanks for your time on this post, and your knowledge!

What Craytab said. Per Jeff Randall (of ESEE) the plastic is superior to kydex. The reason they don't make plastic sheaths for all their knives is the cost. The molds cost $100k+. That's why they went with kydex on some models. The 3 and 6 were chosen for plastic because those models are popular with military members and the military does not use kydex due to it being more sensitive to extreme conditions. I love kydex, but the plastic sheaths are great.

As for your other issue, the ESEE Molle backer is superb and will allow belt carry or attachment to webbing.

I did a little research and found that ,yes the molded sheaths are actually superior to kydex for all the reasons you stated. Thanks for your time!
