Custom Fallkniven F1 - Lone Rider vs BRKT Grips

Hi Lightguy,
I have had both and both are top notch. The only difference is that Greg has a stylized transition between planes of contour and BK's have smooth tranitions but in the hand there is no difference.

Very good to know - thank you!

Hi Marcelo

Are there any differences in dimensions between the BK micarta and the thermorum F1s? Also do you think the $100 premium of the BK F1s are justified?

Thanks

Funny, Marcelo and I where talking Greg's (Lone Rider) grips just last week.

Greg does a fine job on his grips, they feel very good to me too.

I would be happy with either.

I had not seen these before. If they are decent, the price is much more reasonable than other F1's I have seen with custom handles.

Don't forget that JRE Industries also has a custom Fallkniven line.

I have several ranging from natural materials to blaze orange G10.

Plus, you can pick up the knife and get a custom sheath all at the same time. :)

Do the custom handled knives fit into the kydex sheaths for standard f1s?

I don't think they do.

I doubt any of the micarta/wood/G10 handles will though whether they're from JRE, Bark River, or LoneRider.

Edit: Do you mean the factory Zytel sheath or one of the aftermarket kydex rigs from someone like Normark, MBHanzo, etc.

The aftermarket ones! Any idea where I can get one done without sending my knife. I have a BKRT F1 with black micarta. Thanks

Oh.

I think most, if not all, of the kydex makers would need your knife as the tolerances need to be tight to get the snap in and out.

Plus, the scales are all hand-shaped for those three so I would suspect there would be slight variations from one to another.

The JRE guys do leather which is more forgiving of minor variations in thickness and/or shape.

I've sent my knives to Mike at Grindstone Cutlery in Fort Wayne, IN for kydex when I needed it but he still needed the knives in-hand to get a fit he was happy with.

Yeah, what you say makes sense. I was just hoping that I could just get a technical kydex sheath like the ones Martin makes without sending the knife (customs here are a lil cranky when it comes to knives).
